http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/picturematch/

This website would be great to teach many phonics lessons.  You can choose a beginning letter sound and pick the letters to use or have the computer pick random letters then a picture is shown and the student clicks on the correct bos to put it in.

Great site to reinforce letter sounds.  Would be a great group or individual activity.

http://americanhistory.si.edu/onthemove/games/game1/game1.html

Cool website that discusses the history of transportation.  Students are given different pictures and then have to decide where to put them according to year and type.

Would be great to use for a history class.

http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/factfrenzy/opening.html

A very informative site where students are taught how to find the necessary facts in something that they are reading.  There is a demo that you can watch first that is very helpful.

Would be agreat place to go to when starting a unit on report writing or just teaching students how to take notes.

http://www.sciencenetlinks.com/interactives/marble/marblemania.html

On this website you learn about randomness and probability.  Students choose the number of marbles and number of trials etc. and then the computer does the trial.

Would be a good place to go for probabiliy in math and also for an example of different types of graphing.

http://americanhistory.si.edu/cgi-bin/westpoint/question1a.pl

A very interesting website that has trivia about West Point graduates throughout history.  A very intersting and informative site.

Would be a great place to go when having a study of military in history.

http://americanhistory.si.edu/coins/flash/game/index.shtml

An interesting website where you become lost in a coin vault and you must find certain coins to get out.  There are clues along the way to help you.

A very useful site for a study in historical coins.

http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/letter_generator/

Wonderful website that teaches students how to write business and friendly letters.  The student goes through several steps to fill in the necessary information and then the letter is generated.

This is a great site to use probably more for the upper grades.  However it would be an important thing to teach especially since letter writing is becoming extinct in my opinion.

http://www.colgate.com/app/Kids-World/US/Games-And-Activities.cvsp?Game=Treehouse

Very cute website.  The student is asked to choose a type of weather and then when they enter the treehouse they are sked t choose the appropriate type of clothing to wear.  Then they help Dr. Rabbbit get ready to go to work.

Would be a great game to use for dental health month!

http://www.fisher-price.com/us/fun/games/abczoo/default.asp

This is a very juvenille site but would be fun for Pre-k or special needs classroom.  Student choose a letter of the alphabet and an animal that begins with that letter appears.  Would be great to beging the year in Pre-K or kindergarten.

A nice site but would only be for a 4 or under child.

http://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/multimedia/series/AEMicrosites/playing-with-shadows.aspx

This site shows students the art of shadow puppetry and discusses how it began.  The video is a little lengthy but very interesting.

It would be best to use this site for slightly older classrooms.  It would be great to use when doing a unit on Asia.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/forms_of_media/

This site talks about the different types of media and how they affect the people who watch them.  Would be great to use at home or at school.  The activities that go along with it help reinforce the video.

Great site! Would be great to start a discussion on good and bad media.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/diversity/

A super site to use to discuss with students the difference in the classroom.  Shows what would happen if they don't like someone just because they look different.

Would be a great site to use to discuss diversity.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/giving_back/

A nice video and activities to use when teaching students about giving back and helping others.  Would be a good unit to use around Christmas when students are thinking about what they are and getting and to remind them to think of others.

Really liked this one.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/fact_or_opinion/

A really nice site to use before having the students start on a report or project where they have to look up information.  It discusses how they should check all there information for accuracy before they put it down as fact.

Great site and great activities for student to use.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/online_safety/

A very important site to use in the classroom or at home.  The characters discuss online safety and how to stay safe in a way that younger students/internet users can understand.  The activities that go along with it are informative but not in a way that would be scary to younger children and they still get a ver important point across.

Would be a great site to use before letting student begin to get online to do other activities.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/listening/

This would be a great site to go to at the beginning of the school year.  As a class it could be used to discuss being a good listener and what would be expected from students.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/peer_pressure/

Cool site!  Another great video this time about peer pressure.  Would be great to talk to a classroom about the problem of peer pressure.  There are some great activities that go along with the video to reinforce the learned skill.

Great to use in the classroom when there is a problem with peer pressure or to discuss what it is and how to handle it.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/self_control/

On this site the video at the beginning shows the characters dealing with one of their friends having a problem with self control.  Great to show in the classroom when this problem comes up or to use to stop the behavior before it begins.

Really cute site!  Would be really helpful to address problem behaviors.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/self_esteem/

Another great site!  This one addresses a problem with being mean to other people and hurting their self-esteem.  There are some cute activities that go along with the problem that the cartoon character is having.

Great for beginning converstations in your classroom about this problem.

http://learninglab.org/life_skills/cyberbullying/

Amazing site!  Students are shown a cartoon with the animated character Garfield in a cyberbullying situation.  Then they can go to other activities where they use the information they have just seen to make smart decisions.

A very good site to help you talk to younger students about the problem of cyberbullying.

http://thinkfinity.org/say-what-sh-game

On this site you put the beginning sound of the word.  All of the words begin with the "sh" sound so it is a little boring for older students but for students working on this sound it would be a fun game.

I would use this for Pre-k or K classrooms to reinforce the sound we are working on.

http://www.funbrain.com/grammar/index.html

This game helps out when practicing your grammar.   At the beinning of the game you can pick beginner or advanced. Beginner is mostly nouns and verbs while Advanced is all parts of speech.  In the game it will ask you to pick the noun, verb, etc. out of  the sentence. If you are right the little gorilla will tell you and theres a tableto show you how many you got right and how many you have missed.  I think this game would be better for the older grades (2nd-6th).

http://www.funbrain.com/brain/ReadingBrain/ReadingBrain.html

This is a very cool website.  Here you get to read a selection of stories.  If you don't finish a book in one sitting you can come back and at the bottom it has the option to go the the last page you had read.  There are stories for different ages.  After reading the stories there are a couple Mad Libs games you can play.

http://thinkfinity.org/say-what-short-a-short-o-game

This is a good website.  It helps kids sound out words so they can be put together.  Its a game where one person sound out the beginning of the word an you have a group of endings to choose from.  Besides the game you can print off activity sheets, and lesson plans for your students.  This would be good for the Kindergarten through Third grade group.

http://disney.go.com/disneyjunior

This website lets kids play games, listen to stories, and other activities with their favorite Disney characters. I think that this website is geared more towards Preschool and Kindergarten. Each story has games and activities that go along with the story.
